A leading marketplace in a specialized local niche

Fotografi-Cameramani.ro is the largest and most popular catalog of wedding photographers and videographers in Romania. The platform helps future brides and grooms discover, compare, and contact service providers, while also giving professionals a stronger digital presence in a crowded and highly visual market.

As the business grew, the need was not just for a directory website, but for a structured marketplace capable of supporting search, member visibility, editorial workflows, competitions, and continuous feature development over time.

Building a marketplace that worked for both sides of the market

The challenge was not simply to launch a listings platform. The real need was to create a digital product that could serve both couples searching for the right offer and service providers looking for meaningful exposure in a very competitive niche.

This meant dealing with a two-sided marketplace with different needs for end users and members, complex filtering and search requirements across location, pricing, availability, portfolio quality, and reviews, SEO and content structure requirements critical for organic discovery, editorial and competition workflows beyond standard marketplace functionality, and continuous product evolution based on market feedback over a long-term collaboration.

The project required more than delivery capacity. It required a product-minded approach that could connect usability, business goals, search visibility, and maintainable technical execution.

A custom marketplace built for discovery, visibility, and long-term growth

We worked with Fotografi-Cameramani.ro to build a custom marketplace tailored to the specific needs of this domain, with a strong focus on usability, search performance, and extensibility.

Customer-facing marketplace

A searchable catalog dedicated to couples looking for wedding photographers and videographers. Users could browse two main sections and filter providers based on criteria such as location, price, availability, portfolio quality, and customer recommendations.

Member account management

A dedicated area where service providers could manage their profiles and interact with potential clients who requested services for their events.

Platform administration module

An internal management area used by catalog administrators to control content, manage the platform, and support day-to-day operations.

Annual contest system

A complex module supporting the annual wedding photography and videography competition, including submission flows, nomination workflows, jury evaluation, and results publishing.

Editor's selection module

A curated selection system based on a structured voting process involving editors and jury members, designed to highlight standout photo and video work from marketplace members.

Blog and content layer

A publishing area used to share news and useful information with catalog members, while also supporting visibility and organic traffic growth.

Broad ownership across product delivery and platform evolution

Our involvement covered the core disciplines needed to move the product from idea to launch and then support it as it matured.

  • Business requirements analysis
  • UX/UI design
  • Custom software development
  • Software architecture and implementation
  • DevOps support
  • QA and testing
  • SEO-oriented product structure
  • Technical and business consultancy
  • Long-term maintenance and feature iteration

Built through close collaboration and continuous iteration

We approached the project as a long-term delivery effort shaped around Agile collaboration, regular communication, and continuous improvement.

This helped us keep business and technical priorities aligned over time, adapt the platform based on real market feedback after release, deliver improvements in manageable iterations, and support quality, continuity, and platform stability as the product expanded.

Our contribution went beyond implementation. We were involved across programming, UI/UX, DevOps, SEO, testing, and consultancy, working with a cross-functional team and regular ceremonies such as sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospective.

A strong example of product engineering for a niche marketplace

This project reflects the kind of work we are well suited for: digital products that go beyond standard templates and need to support real business models, multiple user groups, and long-term evolution.

What makes this case especially relevant is the combination of two-sided marketplace complexity, discovery and SEO requirements, member, admin, and editorial workflows, custom engagement modules beyond the core catalog, and sustained collaboration over the long term.

For us, this is more than an events marketplace case study. It is a strong example of how we help clients build and grow software products that support real market differentiation and ongoing business development.

What the engagement delivered

  • A custom marketplace tailored to the specific needs of the wedding services niche
  • A stronger discovery experience for couples searching in a fragmented market
  • Better visibility and management capabilities for photographers and videographers
  • Additional product layers beyond listings, including contests, editorial selection, and content
  • A long-term delivery partnership supporting continuous improvement over many years

Client feedback

We have perceived Control F5 more like an invested partner in our business, rather than a simple provider of services.
